How long are survey responses kept?

Last reviewed · Part of Surveys and employee listening

The retention period sets how long after a campaign closes its identifying material is kept. When the clock expires, a nightly job:

  • nulls every written comment — free text is the identifying part;
  • nulls all five demographic attributes on each response (department, location, designation, manager, tenure band);
  • deletes the invitation rows outright.

What survives: the numeric answers, and the response rate and totals frozen onto the campaign at close. Your trend line is intact; the material that could identify a person is gone.

0 means retain indefinitely.

Retention runs even if the Survey module is later unlicensed or switched off. This is deliberate. A company that stops using the module must not thereby keep confidential survey data forever. Disabling the module hides it and denies access — it does not delete anything, and it does not stop the retention clock.
