How do I create a draft policy?
Click New Policy on the list. A policy always starts life as a Draft — you cannot skip straight to Published.
Details tab (fill this in first — the other tabs stay locked with a "Save the policy first" message until the policy exists):
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title (required) | Up to 200 characters. |
| Code | Optional short reference, e.g. POL-HR-001. Free text today — up to 30 characters. |
| Category | A picklist: HR General, Code of Conduct, Leave & Attendance, IT & Security, Finance, Health & Safety, Other. Your administrator can add more categories. |
| Owner | An employee lookup — informational, shown as a chip on the policy header. Doesn't gate any permission. |
| Summary | Up to 500 characters. This is the blurb employees see on their ESS card, so keep it to one or two plain-language lines. |
Click Save in the header. The policy now has an Id, and the Content & Versions, Audience, Compliance, and History tabs unlock.
