Which mid-month payroll warnings can appear?

Last reviewed · Part of Mid-month payroll

When you open a payment report, you may see a yellow notice above the grid:

2 rows cannot be paid as the data stands. Fix these before sending the file to the bank. M393 no bank account 2,000.00 M088 net pay is negative -145.20

These rows are deliberately still shown in the report, not hidden. Two reasons a row appears here:

  • no bank account - the employee is set to be paid by bank but has no account on file. The payment line would go to the bank with a blank account number.
  • net pay is negative - the batch's deductions exceed its earnings for that employee, so it is not an instruction to pay at all.

Fix the underlying data - add the bank account, or correct the entry - then reload the report. The notice disappears when nothing is left to fix.

Bank Transfer with the notice above the grid

Employees with a zero amount are simply not part of this run and are not listed. That is not an error.
